New Tracks: Basement Jaxx, TV On The Radio, Four Tet and Factory Floor

Worldwide famous UK Dance stalwarts Basement Jaxx make their return with "What a difference Your Love Makes." It's a bouncy slice of upbeat Summer grooves, bubbling and layered synths, dramatic piano chord stabs and swooning samples and orchestration. Despite the happy vibes coming from the song, it finds itself lacking in character that the duo's previous hits like "Romeo" possessed, and it's largely because of the more accessible sound, as well as the change of vocals. It can't be counted amongst their most interesting of pieces, but we know Basement Jaxx for their ability to pump out bangers like it's no one's business, so hopefully their upcoming full- length will see itself packed with more of those.

If there's one comeback that certainly isn't lacking in character or a thrilling sense of revival it's Brooklyn heroes TV On The Radio's return with the mighty "Mercy." The first song to drop from their upcoming new full- length, it's the most energetic thing the band have done for a long time. It's a full on Rock banger, full of distortion heavy guitar chords as well as a super fast rhythm and fuzzy but defined intertwining noodling, glacial synths and a gorgeous vocal melody. Lyrically it sees the band up to their usual sociologically conscious antics, as Tunde Adepimbe sings in the first verse "I see tonnes of people looking lost and lethal but I think we're all the same." If this is a sign of the direction of further material to come from the band then I can't wait to see what the rest of the new record will be like.

Another return I'm mighty excited for is that of Keiran Hebden aka Four Tet, whose consistently brilliant contributions to the worlds of UK Garage and Dance over the past 15 years have seen him rise to become one of the UK's most lauded cult connoisseurs. His new full- length "Beautiful Rewind" is due out on his own imprint Text Records, but as of yet he has given no release date. "Kool FM", the first single to drop from the forthcoming album, is a banger of barn storming proportions. Like some of Hebden's best work, it's a song so ambidextrous it would be nigh- on- impossible to give it a quick summary. Essentially it's a mesh of squelchy synths, manic and delirious drum patterns, cut 'n' paste sampling and siren like drones, but even that doesn't really cover it. You need to hear it to gain the full experience.

Finally a release date for the long awaited and extremely highly anticipated debut full- length from the Titanic Industrial Dance trio Factory Floor has been announced. The record will be self- titled and is due for a 9th September release via none other than James Murphy's DFA label. Previous single "Fall Back" certainly whetted my appetite earlier this year, but new cut "Turn It Up" has me even more psyched. It's a song that revolves entirely around it's mesmerizing, pugilistic tribal rhythms, which evolve constantly throughout the song. Throw in the strangely- effected robotic vocals and a classic '80s House keyboard sample and it makes for a pulverising, hypnotizing listen. To say I'm excited would be an understatement.
